SGMR 01: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Welcome to Studio Ghibli Movie Reviews. Before we get started, I should... as usual... go over a brief history of Studio Ghibli. Studio Ghibli is Japanese animation studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki. Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata worked for years in the Japanese film and animation industry, having worked on animations, such as The Great Adventures of Horus, Prince of the Sun and Panda! Go, Panda! Toshio Suzuki was an editor for a manga magazine called Tokuma Shoten Publishing. The company was founded on June 15th, 1985. Since then, Studio Ghibli has become one of the most respected film companies, creating many films that are considered not just anime classics, but classics in animation as a whole. Of course, being a Japanese company, we in the United States would naturally have difficulty experiencing these films. Enter the Walt Disney company.
